Trail's End Campground Rules & Regulations

For the comfort and enjoyment of everyone, we have established the following rules.  We appreciate your cooperation!
*We  reserve the right to evict, without refund, anyone who does not follow  the rules of the facility - including the beach rules. Please remember we are a family campground.

ATTENTION YOUNG ADULTS!
All  people camping on your site or in your cabin must be 21 years old (or  older) unless you are a parent/grandparent traveling with children.

QUIET HOURS:    11:00 PM - 8:00 AM
Quiet Hours means that all music is turned off and campfire voices are kept low!
All children under age 18 must be back at their campsites by 11pm!

KIDS:   Parents are responsible for the safety and actions of their children at  all times. An adult should know where each child is and what they are  doing at all times.  Children are not permitted to go near the lake  unattended!  Please remind your older children that the playground is no  place for profanity.

FIRES:  Fires  are permitted in the designated fire pit only. Do not move or destroy  the fire pit!  Only dead, downed wood may be collected for fires. No  cutting of downed trees is permitted.  Bushes and trees may not be cut  or damaged. Firewood is available for purchase at the store. Our staff  monitors campsites and you will be held responsible for any damages  while you are occupying a site.

PETS:   Pets are welcome if they are good campers!  Dogs must be kept on a  leash at all times.  Make sure to clean up after your pets. Noisy  animals are not tolerated. Pets are NOT permitted to be left unattended  unless they are locked inside your camper. Dogs may not be tied to trees  or uprights.  NO PETS ON THE BEACH OR IN THE PICNIC AREA!  Dogs can  swim in the boat launch area, but must be under your control while doing  so!

BATHHOUSE AND RESTROOMS:  No pets, playing, loitering, dish washing, or smoking permitted in the restrooms or bathhouse.

TRASH AND RECYCLING:  You are responsible for bringing your own garbage to the garbage dumps on-site located at the front of the park near Rocky's on The Lake.

PARKING & VEHICLES:  Only 2 vehicles per site.  Additional parking is available, please ask where you should park if you  have more than 2 vehicles.  Our speed limit is 5 MPH!  Driving in  excess of that speed endangers our campers. Anyone who repeatedly speeds  through the park will be asked to leave. ATV's and DIRTBIKES may not be  used in the campground, nor may any motorized vehicle driven by  children, such as scooters, mopeds, etc.

BIKING:  Riding on roadways is permitted during daylight hours only.  This is for your safety!

BOAT LAUNCH:  Daylight hours only!   Free for all campers, guests must pay launch fee.  Boaters may moor your boats at your own risk.   Our docks are for pickup and drop off only. You are not allowed to leave your boats unattended at the docking area.

GUESTS and VISITORS:
We charge a fee for visitors. A visitor is anyone who is not registered to camp with you at your site.
Visitors can either spend the day with us, or stay overnight.  Day visitors must leave by 10:00 pm!

TRAIL'S END BEACH RULES:
Trail's End is now private, only for our campers, residents and folks who rent the pavilion.

Beach Hours (CAMPERS ONLY!):  Daily, Dawn to Dusk -- Swim at your own risk.

Trail's  End beach is no longer open to the public. A lifeguard will be on duty,  weather permitting on Saturdays and Sundays during peak times.  All  campers must have a signed beach form on file in the office in order to  use the beach.

BEACH RULES:
(as mandated by New York State)

  • 2 adults (over 18) must be present to swim.  This means you cannot send your kids to the beach alone.
  • We are a private campground. There are NO LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY! SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK!
  • All children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult AT ALL TIMES -- even when a lifeguard is on duty!
  • NO PETS on the beach or in the picnic area.
  • NO GLASS OR BOTTLES!
  • Respect  the swim lines!  No swimming past the swim lines for any reason.  Kids  must pass a swim test to go beyond the kiddie line.  The outer blue line  keeps the boats away, NEVER go past this line!  Swimming between the  last line and the blue line is prohibited as well.  It has not uncommon  for a jeskier to jump the blue line!
  • No children under 5 are  permitted past the kiddie line, even in a flotation device and/or  accompanied by a parent.  Our lake depth fluctuates throughout the  season and at times it is deep close to shore.  Keep the kids safe by  keeping them inside the kiddie line!
  • No rough play, dunking, or chicken fights.
  • NEVER Drink and Swim!  Intoxicated individuals  should be reported, and will be asked to leave the beach.  Know your  limit and never swim if you're drinking.
  • Respect the private property signs of our neighbors.  The shoreline around Hinckley Reservoir is mostly privately owned.
  • Boats  are permitted to pull up to the beach in the designated area if you are  camping at Trail's End.   No swimming around the boats!  This is for  your safety!
  • No overnight parking of boats or leaving boats  unattended for long periods of time.  We are not responsible for boats  left unattended!
  • Do not leave the kids on the beach while you go out on the jetski!

FIREWOOD ALERT - "DON'T MOVE FIREWOOD"

A REGULATION is in effect that prohibits the import of firewood into New York unless it has been heat treated to kill pests. The regulation also limits the  transportation of untreated firewood to less than 50 miles from its  source. See Frequently Asked Questions.

By  transporting firewood, you could be spreading diseases and invasive  insects that can quickly kill large numbers of trees. Help STOP THE  SPREAD and obey the Firewood Regulation:

  • It is best to leave all firewood at home - please do not bring it to campgrounds or parks.
  • Get your firewood at the campground or from a local vendor - ask for a receipt or label that has the firewood's local source.
  • If you choose to transport firewood within New York State:
    • It must have a receipt or label that has the firewood's source and it must remain within 50 miles of that source.
    • For firewood not purchased (i.e. cut from your own property) you must have a Self-Issued Certificate of Source (PDF, 100 kB), and it must be sourced within 50 miles of your destination.
    • Only  firewood labeled as meeting New York's heat treatment standards to kill  pests (kiln-dried) may be transported into the state and further than  50 miles from the firewood's source. Acceptable firewood heat treatment  must raise the core temperature of the firewood to 71 degrees C, or 160  degrees F, and hold it there for at least 75 minutes. Most "kiln-drying"  processes that reduce the moisture content to less than 18% achieve  this sterilization standard.
    • For more information, please see the Frequently Asked Questions for Firewood Regulation. For additional questions regarding this regulation, please call this toll-free number: 1-866-640-0652 or e-mail: firewood@gw.dec.state.ny.us.
